Philip Horvath:

CLASS OF 1967

Philip's Story

Hi there! I might have had a seat behind you in home room or was in one of your classes. I was a pretty quiet kid, fighting to survive a tough home life. Since graduating high school I've spent probably too much time in academia. I have a B.A in Psychology, I then discovered mathematics and in the process my true calling, Chemistry, and got a second B.S. Like all of you, I grew up. Ms. Yonan, if you could see me now! I wonder where you are? I am now a Plant Chemist for a combined cycle power plant here in Mississippi responsible for chemical water treatment. I have my own lab and a great technician. When we run three units (heat recovery steam generators) we get very busy. We have a great bunch of people here and I love my job! I've remained single. No big deal. close. Guess I'll keep looking. I don't take things too seriously anymore. A positive outlook with a sense of humor helps and even more so, Faith in God. I am now age 66 but I don't feel like it. I try to keep fit since a mild heart attack in 2000 while at work on the road. I'm very much involved with learning to ride horseback (English tack and then Western) as well as learning horse training techniques. The chestnut brown quarter horse I ride is named "Jazz." He gives me a mini vacation each weekend I take a lesson. What else? I am a Reagan conservative. I still believe in what our Founding Fathers intended for this country. I'm going to go another 4 or 5 years and then retire. Montana and being around horses is my dream! I remember a lot of you and wish you all well. Keep your dreams too! Phil
