Philip's Story
Life
After Neville, I attended NLU and graduated with a BS in Economics in 1973. I participated in the Federal Summer Intern Program in Washington for the summer between college and LSU Law School. I graduated from LSU Law in 1976, worked as a law clerk for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal for a year, then worked for three years as an Assistant District Attorney in Grant Parish, Louisiana. In 1980, I began private practice in Alexandria, where I have remained since. My firm is Hunter & Morton. I am married to another attorney, Shirley, and we have three children (2 girls and a boy): Anna, a senior at Georgetown University- class of 2009, Sarah, a sophomore at Georgetown U.- cla...Expand for more
ss of 2007, and Philip, my youngest, a senior at Bolton High - class of 2009- in Alexandria.
My family moved from St. Louis to Monroe during the summer between my junior and senior year in high school, so I attended Neville for my senior year, only.

Workplace
I am the first lawyer in my family. I have enjoyed my career as a "plaintiff's attorney". About half of my practice is medical negligence litigation and the other half is a broad mix of personal injury work. I have also been active in the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association (President, 1995), the Louisiana State Bar (several terms, house of delegates, many committees), and the Alexandria Bar Association (president, 1995).
