Philip's Story
Hi,
Wow, where do I start? Killingly! Ok, I was born and raised in Killingly and attended Killingly Memorial, Junior, and high School. I left high school for work and later returned. I worked at Glass Containers Company for 26 years holding many positions, even president. When Glass container closed I worked two years at General Cable in Willimantic and moved on to a larger company located in Massachusetts where I've been for the past 15 years. I now work for a Italian company based in Italy which I've spent some great summers there training and meeting new people. They had supplied me with a car, and a place to stay when I come to visit them and yes I'm usually sad when it's time to return back home. If you ever get a chance to go to Italy, GO! It's awesome! Ok, more about me. When I was 25 I bought my first house and two years later (27) sold it for three times the amount I bought it for. At age 30 life came pretty easy, I worked hard, saved, and invested most of what I made because we all know what happens if you keep it in your pocket, Right, you spend it. When I was 14 I started a landscaping business putting in lawns, building and installed new fences in a housing project just down the road from where I lived. I was raised on a farm so garden...Expand for more
ing and working the land is what I liked doing so landscaping fit right in for me. I can look at a piece of property and see its potential then change it into a park like setting. I fixed up my first house, landscaped it, and sold it to build my dream house. Like everyone else I wanted to build it without a mortgage and to that I had to build it myself. I bought 25 acers +-, cleared the trees off and started building my new home. There was no Power lines here at that time so I used a generator. I'd hammer away till the wee hours of the morning and even slept here. I did the wiring, plumbing, and the heating system. I also contracted the local well guys to dig my well and had the power company run the wiring down the road to my location. In all it took me about 6 months to get it all close in and then I started painting. I thank God for his blessing, everything worked out great. My main goal was a house without a morgage ... mission accomplished. It's true, if you pray for something long enough, it does come true. Thanks for reading my story and please be sure to check out my photo albums, you might even see me! lol... If you have any questions that you'd like to ask or just want to chat, you know where to find me.
Take care and God bless...
Phil
