Philip's Story
I left Vancouver in 1970, and joined the Cdn Army. Went into the Signal Corp as a telephone lineman. Spent 6 years in the Forces and then moved to High River AB and started work with Telus in Calgary. First I worked as a splicer and then in install/repair for 6 years.. Then I got another job as a combination technician with Telus in High River and spent the last 21 years working in the country and surrounding small towns. Was a shop steward, Local Union Vice -pres. health & safety rep, Safety Committee co-chair. Married in 1976. Have 2 Children, first a girl who is currently working on her Phd. degree and then a boy who is working in a jewelry store in Calgary. I have been a Scout leader for the last 21 years, in a vintage (Commodore) computer club, a volunteer with the Calgary Zoo, the Alpine Club of Canada and have been on the executive of almost every organization that I hav...Expand for more
e belonged to. Enjoyed whitewater rafting & skydiving in the past and now I run, hike, bike, backpack, backcountry tour ski and camp in the backcountry winter and summer. Divorced in 2001. Have been with my current partner since 2002. Retired after 27 years with Telus in 2003. I have since started my own business, maintaining Telephone Equipment in the High River Alberta area, doing some woodworking, installing and maintaining DSL lines and Networks, security and surveillance systems. Haven't played my violin since leaving Happyrock, but I would still like to take some fiddling lessons at a Calgary College. I can be found at, lastname+pd at the hotplace.
