Phillip's Story
Life
After graduating from GW, I attended WV Wesleyan College, where I switched majors between Computer Science and Music a few times. I graduated in '85, ending up with a major in CS, and a minor in music. From there I went on to grad school at WVU for three years, where I again studied both CS and Music. GW grad Carl Agsten, who had been at WVU already for a while, helped me find my first apartment in Morgantown, in the same building where he lived. take a job with the DuPont company. There, met my partner, Bob, with whom I've lived since 1989. In 1992, I left DuPont to go back to school, and work towards a Ph.D. in Computer Science. I finally finished that in Dec 2000; I've taught teaching Computer Science at Temple University in Philadelphia from 1998-2003, at the University of Delaware from 2003-2007, and since January 2008, I've been on the faculty of UC Santa Barbara. I'm learning Guitar, enjoy hiking, and practice Buddhism in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
