Dr. Phillip's Story
So recall that quiet, shy Phil Finney, who was never seen at social events, and hardly spoke to anyone. When COVID-19 struck a few years ago, and caused a social shutdown, I picked up the ancestry binders made by my parents and looked for what I could find with all of the new online information now available. My parents could not get back in time any earlier than the late 1700's. Now I have found lines of direct ancestors (great-grandparents) back to around 700 AD. Some of Shakespeare's histories were written about or include my great grandparents, uncles, aunts, and first or second cousins. The KIing Henrys, Edwards, Richards,,etc. all are great-grandparents, uncles, or first cousins. Even William the Conqueror (or William the Ba****d, as he was called by Saxons) was a 25th great-grandfather.
So having such an auspicious background, I now reimagine those long-past days in Waterloo. If I'd have known then what I know now, I'd have thrown off the shyness. and done way with the fea...Expand for more
r. Classmates should have bowed or curtsied (whichever you prefer) to this royal great-grandson. Oh, what I could have done in school! For late payment of annual taxes at recess, 35% of your land, animals, valuables, and children, (or at least your lunch money) would do to get you okay in the accounting books . And remember, the liege lord gets his preference of bedmates every night and the right of first night after a vassal's marriage.. My queen? The best-looking wench in the class with royal blood would do quite nicely. .She would have to realize that there's a lot of catching up to be done, and a short time to do it.
Yes, about everyone from western society is a Cousin to Charlemagne. But as my lineage goes through several kings of England. Charlemagne is a great-grandfather, not a cousin.
