Phyllis's Story
I've been married for 50 years to Bill, an Auburn and Clemson grad.
I am a nurse and work in med staffing and Bill is a retired engineer who now teaches Physics at the local Tech College.
I enjoy traveling to sunny islands, museums in Atlanta and Charlotte and beach vacations on Edisto Island, SC.
We love Clemson football and manage to get back to Auburn at least once a season to cheer for those Tigers as well.
We recently moved from suburbs in Greer,SC to the "country" in Simpsonville, SC. Our neighbors now are deer, wild turkey, fox and some things we hear at night but aren't really sure what they are.
I enjoyed my years at Baker and have been back to Columbus several times and have always made time to drive by the school. It never fails to bring back so many memories, good and some that were just funny.
Here's a funny story about one of my classes at Baker.
It was an English class with

Caroline Pruitt and she had just asked the class "What was the famous novel written by Victor Hugo?"
Of course, I raised my hand at once, having just read "Les Miserables".The trouble was that when I answered I said it just like it was spelled and with a Southern accent. (I took German with Herr Judah.) Anyway, Miss Pruitt looked at me like I had said the most vile and crude thing and then she called on Harold Lane and asked if he knew the correct answer. Naturally, he gave the correct answer, which was the same answer I had given but with correct French pronunciation and the little nasally honks and blows that make French beautiful to the ear but scary to me. This was one of those times when I didn't know how much I didn't know when I thought I knew it all. I never felt the same about Victor Hugo, Miss Pruitt or Harold Lane. Funny now but pretty awful at the time. Lots of angst at that age!!
