Phyllis's Story

Life I live an amazingly blessed life with my husband (Keith) and three children (Keith Jr., Gabrielle, and David). My children are my pride and joy and are growing up FAST! College College life was a bust for me. I earned my career while holding down two jobs. I partied at Hampton University! The best thing I can say about my time at ODU is that it was time well spent. My accounting degree has served me well through my career. So, THANKS ODU!! My best friend's son is now attending, so I now have something to be proud of! Workplace I work for the government at the National Transportation Safety Board. I love my job and the agency has a great mission. So, when you see us in the news, think of me! e 2008. I underwent R-CHOP chemotherapy (6 cycles) with 4 cycles of intrathecal therapy (in the spine, to the brain). I am still being monitored at this time and don't really know my prognosis. I have suffered pretty severe nerve damage in my hands, in particular, but other side effects are manageable. I get premiere care and treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC - Home of Warrior Care! I can tell you some stories about our soldiers. This war is tragic and their injuries are so terribly debilitating. Please, please support any effort to end the Iraq War and bring our soldiers home!!! I don't sit and fret about my situation. I have too many other fires brewing! There never has been and never will be questions as to "Why me?" That's just not my style. Life is a journey and I'm enjoying every day!
