Hello Class of '57...I'm #3...when my father was called by Charley Lofton to say I would not be your valedictorian, my father replied he'd thought it was based on grade point average...and Charley said, " We are doing it different this year." {not differently! BTW I was exempted from freshman English due to my board scores!} Yours truly was named Phyllisolive May 25, 1939. DCPS separated my name in third grade. My middle initial O. stands for my confirmation saint...Our Lady of Fatima. I developed the attitude of " I'm #3...I do not try at all." I went into psychoanalysis, was misdiagnosed and earned my B.A. in Education from GWU on a heavy dose of Melarrill.. Following a 7 hour rape on '68,. I was correctly diagnosed at Johns Hopkins....I was manic Depressive in a world where the medical community said colored folk did not get this condition. Lord, give me strength... after my career in teaching, I find myself seeing a therapist once a week..
