Mark's Story

Life AFTER GRADUATING EARLY IN JANUARY OF 1975, I ATTENDED LAKE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN LAKE CITY FLORIDA. I THEN GRADUATED WITH A 2 YEAR DEGREE IN FOREST TECHNOLOGY. I WAS HIRED OUT OF COLLEGE AND WENT TO WORK WITH OSMOSE WOOD PRESERVING COMPANY. I WORKED 62 MONTHS, IN WHICH TIME,MOVED 25 TIMES. I WAS CREW FOREMAN IN CHARGE OF TREATING AND INSPECTING STANDING UTILITY POLES. ALL THIS TRAVELING GOT TO BE OLD. HAVING SAVED A GOOD SUM OF MONEY, I CAME BACK TO CLEARWATER TO PURSUE OTHER INTERESTS. MY FIRST ENDEAVOR IN 1982 WAS THE BUYING AND RENOVATING OF OLD BUILDINGS. AT THE SAME TIME I DID MANY ASSORTED SIDE JOBS FOR CENTURY-21. IN 1986 I BOUGHT A HOUSE IN CLEARWATER AND FOUND MY SOUL MATE. WE WILL CELEBRATE OUR 17TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR. THAT SAME YEAR I BECAME A PAINTING CONTRACTOR AND PAINTED BUILDINGS FOR THE NEXT 13 YEARS. THIS GOT TO BE OLD. WITH THE MONEY WE SAVED, WE STARTED BUYING UP RENTAL PROPERTY IN 1996 AND COMBINED IT WITH THE PROPERTY I BOUGHT IN 1983,1984 FOR A TOTAL OF 7 DUPLEXES AND 1 HOUSE, MOST OF WHICH WE STILL HAVE TODAY. IN 2005 WE PLAN TO LIQUIDATE EVERYTHING WE OWN IN CLEARWATER AND BUY 150 ACRES IN EASTERN TENNESSEE, BUILD A HUGE HOUSE OF OUR DREAMS AND RETIRE. IT IS 7-21-2005, 2 1/2 YEARS SINCE MY FIRST BIO. EVERYTHING HAS WORKED OUT PERFECTLY AND WE HAVE SOLD MOST OF OUR PROPERTY AND ALREADY BOUGHT A HOUSE AND 135 BEAUTIFUL ACRES IN CENTRAL TENN. WE PLAN TO BUILD A LARGER HOUSE AFTER WE FINISH RENOVATING THE 100 YEAR OLD HOUSE THAT EXISTS THERE NOW. COMPARED TO CLEAR...Expand for more
WATER, IT IS A SLICE OF HEAVEN. 1-09-2007. Everything is still on schedule. Am now retired and renovating this old house. I plan to start building our new house in the summer of 2008. I am still married to my wife Susan of twenty years and plan to be for many more. And at 200 lbs, I am no longer that skinny guy you knew in high school. 9-10-2009. I have kept very busy building our new house all by myself. Huge job, but well worth it. About 80% complete. It features 2400 square feet with a 440 square foot outside atrium located in the center of the house. Much like a square donut. 4-8-2010 On the home stretch with only a few months left to finish. 6-10-2011 Moved into the new house in January of 2011. Just a few decorations outside to do, but that can wait for cooler weather. Just bought another 91 acres to build another house to resell. But until then, the fun of hiking it and exploring it. 6-11-2013 Bought a 153 year old Victorian house on 8 acres to renovate and resell in Sept of 2011. Found all kinds of old antiques in the walls. Interesting job. 3-21-2016 Just finished renovating and up for sale a 74 year old farm house on 10 rolling acres of pasture. Won $70,000 in the Tennessee lottery during this time. 6-13-2016 Sold the farmhouse for a very nice profit. Time to buy that new Corvette! 1-31-2021 Finished renovating a 1902 house abandoned for 40 years it sits on 73 acres. Huge profit. Hundreds of pounds of geodes found on this property. All that sparkles!
