Patti's Story
After 21 years of teaching elementary music and beginning band I was forced to quit 2 years ago due to several (7) illnesses. I've always done everything big in my life and this is no exception. Prior to that I had been running a few half marathons and dragon boat racing (large canoe, shaped like a dragon, with 16-20 paddlers). Great fun and a great workout. One of the teams I was on took 2 silver medals in the national finals in Philly. I also became a certified scuba diver and had the honor of touching an octopus (cool) as well as getting stung in the face by a jellyfish (not so cool). My daughter and I went on a Caribbean cruise and got the chance to swim and play with a dolphin. Wow, what a thrill. Now it's a good day if I can get down to the mailbox and back without faling down. It can be a very challenging workout in itself. Life always presents its challenges and what you do with ...Expand for more
it makes or breaks you. I figure I've already done and seen so many cool things that now I'm just kind of evening things out by not doing much of anything. I've decided that pets are my best therapy so I recently adopted 2 kittens to add to my zoo. I now have 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a very loving rat. They all come when they are called, even the rat. 1960 is the year of the rat so maybe it is fitting. Brian and Bill, remember our rat ass T-shirts? Oh, I guess I should mention my human child, Kelly. She's 22, and is attending OSU, majoring in sports science and then will continue on to grad school somewhere to become a physical therapist. She's the best kid you could ask for, no snotty teens or back talk and very supportive of me. I am truly a lucky person. And I will go on that African safari on horseback and searching for tigers via elephant in India. where there is a will, there is a way.
