Portia's Story
Portia is from West Columbia, South Carolina. Portia's schools include Brookland-Cayce High School & USC. She retired in 2002 as an arson investigator. She was the first woman to hold the office of President for the Statewide Arson Association. She won many awards during her career & rubbed elbows with a number of our governors. She owned an animal rescue farm until just after retirement. She rescued horses, cows, mules, donkeys, goats, dogs, and cats. She also raised chickens and had one male peacock (danced for the chickens when flirting) and one male rabbit that was in love with one 0f...Expand for more
the chickens. She retired from advocating for children as a volunteer thru the Guardian ad Litem government program in Darlington County. She believes in Jesus Christ as her Savior. If you don't know God, just come to her home and you will definitely meet Him. She has two grown daughters and one grown grandson. She loves to work outside keeping up her much smaller acreage. Her two best friends during high school were Lynne Melton and Patsy Nix. Unfortunately, neither one of them are with us any longer. She and Lynne Melton King remained friends until Lynne's passing in 2011; 54 years!
