Sandra's Story
At one time I had planned on spending some time in China teaching English but along the way I met my future husband and ended up in his country, Turkey.
I've been here for about 17 years now and love it. We have two children, a girl, 14 and a boy, 12 1/2. I taught English as a second language in several private schools before deciding that my time would be better spent as a stay-at-home mom.
I love visiting with my husband's family, my friends and neighbors. I enjoy cooking and entertaining. As my children are becoming more independent, I am considering opening my own business sometime in the near future. Recently, I have been toying with the idea of a bakery where I would sell American bakery treats like pies, cookies, muffins and brownies.

e a house in the mountains and spend time there in the summer trying to escape from the hot, humid city where we live. My children, however, prefer spending time at the seaside. Luckily, we live about 1 hour away from both the mountains and the seaside!
Once a year, usually in summer, I try and visit my parents who still live in the Capital District. Unfortunately, I usually arrive with a list a mile long from friends and family who just want one little thing each. My least favorite thing to do is shopping and I spend loads of time doing just that on my stateside trips. Then I have to lug all that stuff back!
I hope I'll be able to come to the reunion in August where I will bore you with more details about my life in my adopted country.
