Paulette's Story
Update in 2009.
My daughter and I have moved on with our lives since my husband's passing. I'm enrolled in Communication Design program at a comm. coll. in our area. I'll receive my Art Foundation's certification next year. I'll receive my AAS in 2012, yep that's right. I work full time so I can only take 2 class/semester, and only 1 in the summer! Seems like it'll take forever. My daughter is now 19 and enrolled in a Cosmetology school. She's doing very well!
Life
I have a new update since I posted the below in 2005. I lost my dear husband Ron to cancer on January 5, 2007. We had found out on June 6, 2006. It's been a sad time for my daughter and I but we're strong. Please keep us in your prayers!

Hello everyone. It's great to have a forum on which to contact past acquaintances. I sure miss a lot of my friends from EHS that I've lost contact with.
Currently I'm living in Roanoke, VA. I married in 1984 to a great guy, Ron. We moved to Sonoma Co. in 1987-88. Our daughter was born there in 1989. We then moved to Virginia in 1990. I didn't like the slow pace when I moved here. I have learned to adjust (it took 2-3 years for the adjustment) and it's a great place - though there still isn't a whole lot to do - except for restaurants, movies, and shopping! The latter of which I really don't mind!
Our daughter is now 15, in the 10th grade and is a honor student. We have been truly blessed with her. She's very much a teenager, but beyond that, she's a great kid. I do understand now when they say "raising teenagers is like nailing Jello to a tree!" Arghhh!
I belong to a great Catholic Church here and everyone is so personal. It's small compared to CA parishes. We have about 250-300 families. It's a great community.
So all i...Expand for more
n all things are pretty good in Virginia. I still miss California though. I need to make a trip back soon. It's been about 5 years since I've been back and most of my time was spend in Oxnard and 1 day in Seal Beach visiting friends. I'd like to come out for about 2 weeks and visit the entire area, including the school. I understand the school is now a middle school!
It'd be interesting to see it again.
Take care and be happy!
Workplace
All of my life after EHS has been in office work. Most of my career has been secretarial.
After moving to VA it took 2 years before I found a permanent job. Quite a change after CA when I could find a job within a few days! But NOOOO, we had to move to VA during their recession. Not good timing, huh?
But the wait was worth it. I found a decent job, initially as a secretary for a civil engineering firm. I've been here for 12-1/2 years and really enjoy the people. It's a middle-size company and everyone is very caring - from the CEO down. It's a great place to work. Not without its trials and tribulations occasionally, but what company doesn't have those. Comparatively speaking, they are few and far between.
I have slowly moved up the ladder and currently am an Administrative Supervisor with (currently) 5 people under me. I also am a Marketing Writer and handle the proposals and interview outlines for potential clients.
I still have a dream of going to college some day. Hopefully when our daughter graduates. I'm interested in some artsy things such as decorating, fashion, or flower design. Just something that will act as a creative outlet for me.
My husband is self-employed and runs a small cleaning business. He likes being his own boss and has had the business for 4 years now.
That's about it.
