Priscilla's Story
Life
I married David Baker at the end of my junior year of High School and we had a son, Dan Baker. I went to work in the fashion industry (which had been my big dream all through high school) when he was 3yrs. old. David and I divorced after just a few years together.
After a car accident and 1yr disablity I did not go back to my job in fashion. Instead I went back to school and then changed careers to the travel industry. I remarried when Dan was 8.
We moved to Orange County and my travel career evolved quickly. By the time I was 29 I was a corporate trainer specializing in airline computer operation. (This was before computerization revolutionized the business world.) The position took me all over the country, giving seminars, workshops and individual training. From there I went into management and moonlighted as an adult education teacher with travel careers as my discipline at Coastline Community College in Orange County.
My son was an honor student at Villa Park High School and was a budding actor as well as a school track star. By the time he graduated in 1987 I was no longer in the travel industy; my career had moved on into sales. It was time to try my hand at entrepreneurship. I started a business manufacturing high-end doll house kits. My kits continue to be sold worldwide. It was fun while it lasted but not profitable enough so after 5 yrs I sold it to my distributor.
My son, Dan, married in 1994 and he and his wife, Kandi, have 2 beautiful daughters age 8 and 11. They currently live in a lovely new home with a pool in Riverside.
After selling my business I started a new career as a sales exec selling corporate office furnishings known as "contract furniture" because the sale involved a contract fo...Expand for more
r design services, installation and custom furniture. In 1998 I accepted a sales manager position in Seattle and my 2nd husband, Joe, and I moved north.
In 2002 I was diagnosed with MS and had to slow my life down. We moved north of Seattle to the small town of Lake Stevens where I changed careers again to be a Realtor which I enjoy immensely. I still work long hours but I can take it easy when I need to.
Joe and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary this summer by taking my grandkids with us to Hawaii. We recently moved into a new house and I am busy finding just the right furnishings for it.
I have been active in animal rights and rescues, focusing on cats in need. We currently have 4 of our own. I am writing a book of cat rescue stories as well as a children's story about ancient history and civilization. Needless to say, I love to read and go through 2 or 3 books a month. In the past I designed and made renaissance costumes for the "Ren Faire" but haven't had time lately. When my granddaughters were younger I sewed Daisy Kingdom dresses for them but now I just sew an occasional trendy little poncho or beach bag. They are outgrowing granny's "handmade" stuff!
My life has changed in ways I never imagined as a shy, awkward teenager in High School. I was an average student who was bored in class but who grew up to be an outgoing business person who just needed the right challenges to bring out the drive to succeed. I've enjoyed a very full, active and gratifying life so far!
I would love to hear from old classmates. I was not well known so I don't know if anyone will even remember me! But it would be fun to hear from you even if we are connecting for the first time! Afterall, we did go to the same school, right?
