Sandra's Story
Hello all!
Where did the last 40 years go? We are now the age that our grandparents were when WE graduated from high school. How did that happen?
With several hundred kids in our graduating class I¿ve had to get out my yearbook to match up the pictures with those names listed on Classmates. That has been fun!
Not many will remember me from high school. I wasn¿t in many activities due to family responsibilities, so I don¿t yearn for those days. However, I was very honored to be an alternate Donette my senior year (I was the tallest one!). I was always known as the ¿big sister¿ or ¿counselor¿ to my high school friends. In fact, I¿ve spent much of my life giving advice ¿ some even think me bossy!
My life since high school has been a good one. I have been living in Illinois since I graduated from college. (Boy, do I ever miss the warm AZ climate!) I¿ve been teaching elemen...Expand for more
tary school for 36 years and have been married to a great guy for almost 32 years. Through the years we have had many interests: gardening, motorcycles, fishing, college basketball games, bird watching. Now we love to travel and take photographs. Other than that, we are pretty much homebodies. Deciding what to do as retirement years loom ahead of us occupies many of our discussions. And, of course, now we are starting to care for our aging parents.
I guess at this point in our lives, we ask ourselves if life has gone as we expected it would. In many ways, I am very happy with my place in this world, and in other ways I wish I had accomplished more, laughed more, listened more, been more appreciative of those around me. However, I hope that I have been a positive influence on the lives of the many students I¿ve had through the years.
