Life
Where to start...
Joined the Marine Corps out of high school as a musician, but was injured and only lasted a couple of years. Moved to PA after that to be near my family and worked some odd jobs for awhile, before settling down as a truckstop waitress and going to college.
Gave up the glitzy truckstop life to go to medical school in Grenada, West Indies. Traveled a little on breaks from school - South America, Europe, part of the Caribbean. Had a lot of fun doing that. Finished an MSc in 2000, and MD in 2002.

he hours are pretty brutal, but the job is pretty cool, and I really like the variety in my specialty. The wierdest thing was getting used to people calling me "Doctor", but now even that seems normal. I'll be starting in a faculty position July 1; looking forward to that.
Haven't managed to get married yet - not high on my priority list, or not enough spare time, I guess. Got 3 kids though; all four-legged and furry.
Not exactly my original life plan - pretty far from music major/band teacher - and not the most direct route, but it's working out OK, and I certainly wouldn't trade it.
