Ralph's Story
Ralph is from Campo, California. His schools include Mountain Empire High School. He later attended College of the Redwoods. Was last in Campo 1976-77, working for Dart's Ambulance. Later work included lumber mills, logging operations, hard rock mining (gold) in the Siskiyous, Timber management for the USFS, a tour plus in the Coast Guard (either side of the Pacific, Bering Sea to South America). Broken back in 1985 (lower back- log loader accident). Out for five weeks then working again. Worked at that mill until 1991, then disabled out. Retrained as an LVN, owner/operator of a custom jewelry store (wife cleaned out the bank account). Worked as an eligibility worker for Humboldt County welfare dep't (only job I was ever fired from- wasn't sufficiently kiss-...Expand for more
ass). Did security work until moving to Oregon in 2001. Finally found permanent work (mill, again), disabled out 2008 (knee as well as back). Now trade work for rent as an apartment manager for a non-profit. Social: Married three times ( First two deceased, not my doing), wish I could locate #3 so I could get a divorce. One daughter, one granddaughter , a cat, a dog, and a few good friends- sounds like a jimmy Buffet song don't it? Pleasure: still like to read, fish, garden (now that I have something better than decomposed granite and cow pies to work with), camp, hunt mushrooms (eating kind only), and have actually become a pretty good cook (chef Boy R Lee?).
