Ramon's Story
After KHS, went to Temple Jr College for a couple of years, then on the NTSU (now UNT). Just before graduating, got my draft notice, so not wanting to go to VietNam, I enlisted in the Army to go to data processing school. Little did I know the data processing guys also went to VietNam (recruiter kinda led me astray on that one). So, spent a year there, came back with no injuries or bad stories like a lot of the guys. I realize now that the VietNam trip was good for me, I grew up a lot.
Got married, had a little girl. After the army - finished my BBA at NTSU and moved to Dallas for a career. Started with an insurance company, then a school (UTHSCD), then oil company, then banking. Been with Bank of America and it's predecessors for 30+ years now.
Divorced, remarried a '66 KHS grad (Joyce Rudick). We had kind of stayed in touch via her brother (Morris Rudick) and things just happened one year and the timing was right. We flew to Lost Wages about 8 or 9 months later with all the family and just celebrated 20 years. Three kids ...Expand for more
between us - all grown and gone (whew!). We still try and get back to the Strip every year or two as a vacation getaway.
We are in the Dallas area (Rockwall) and plan on staying there after retirement in a few years.
Mom still lives in Killeen and some of you may recall Newcomb School of Ballet. Well, Mom still does some teaching there, but has curtailed her hours and lets her protege handle the day to day classes. They do several recitals a year. I know she has taught some of the kids of our classmates.
Hobbies - big motorcycles (Goldwings - don't have one currently dang it), live and internet poker, scuba (we have a time share in the Caymans), and snow skiing (though since Jodi broke her arm , we will probably not be as active as we used to be). Did most of our skiing in Ruidoso and Steamboat Springs - awesome snow.
Have a total of 4 grandkids now. 8 yrs to 16 yrs of age. Geez, they grow fast, don't they?
