Ramona's Story
Life
Born Feb. 1, 1949, in Newark, N.J. Moved to CA in '54. Moved often until parents bought home in La Mirada, CA. Attended many schools because of all the moving we did,including St. Joseph's in Hawthorne, Charlotte Anthony and St. Paul of the Cross grammar schools, St. Paul High School, Mt. St. Mary's College in L.A., and CSULong Beach where I met my husband, obtained teaching credential and Master's degree in Education (was called an Audio Visual Major and is totally out-dated now!). Married 35 yrs., 3 children, all married, two step-grandsons and two more girtls, 5th grandchild just recently born another boy). Wrote briefly for a small-town newspaper as feature writer and taught high school English as well as Adult Ed. at Camp Pendleton, ESL for adults after leaving high school teaching. 15 years home raising children, then began teaching part-time while kids were in school all day. Have been succeeding in living with cancer for almost 15 years and am currently in treatment as well as a support group. (We have fun, by the way!). Have been completely bald twice and currently have hair with just a few gray strands. Every day with hair is a "good hair day"! Am happy and working on photo-journaling our family history and enjoying being a grand-parent. Have traveled quite a bit: Italy, France, Ireland, New Zealand, England and Scotland. Came back to Catholic church several years ago and go to St. Francis of Assisi in Vista, CA. Still an avid reader (mostly for pleasure now, but occasionally for edification!), enjoy movies, walking, hanging with girlfriends and family. Parents still alive (83 and 85) and living independently. That's it for now (updated Oct. '08)!
