Ramsey's Story

After LHS, I graduated from Franklin College with a BA in history, I became a graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University but never completed work on my Master's. Instead I headed south to Central Florida and joined the staff of the Orlando Sentinel, which is part of the Chicago Tribune newspaper empire. rs. The newspaper even sent me to Australia for three weeks to report on research on toxic algae. I was part of a small group of Sentinel writers involved in a project that earned a Loeb Award from UCLA in 2001 for best financial writing and was part of another writing group which picked up a Polk award the next year for an environmental series. But by 2007 the Tribune was already in serious financial trouble and I took a buy-out that year, retiring early. I am married and we have a daughter who is a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois working on her Master's degree. We live in Eustis, Fl but have an apartment in Russia.
