Ramsey's Story
After LHS, I graduated from Franklin College with a BA in history, I became a graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University but never completed work on my Master's.
Instead I headed south to Central Florida and joined the staff of the Orlando Sentinel, which is part of the Chicago Tribune newspaper empire.
I worked as a writer - covering local government, science, the environment and a weekly humor column - for 34 years.
I attended the launch of the first Space Shuttle, went to Haiti with a team from the University of Florida to search for the remains of Columbus's first colony in the New World, spent a week in Houston at a NASA conference on life on Ma...Expand for more

The newspaper even sent me to Australia for three weeks to report on research on toxic algae.
I was part of a small group of Sentinel writers involved in a project that earned a Loeb Award from UCLA in 2001 for best financial writing and was part of another writing group which picked up a Polk award the next year for an environmental series.
But by 2007 the Tribune was already in serious financial trouble and I took a buy-out that year, retiring early.
I am married and we have a daughter who is a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois working on her Master's degree.
We live in Eustis, Fl but have an apartment in Russia.
