Life After obtaining an AA in Business Management and struggling in retail management positions after high school, I was hired by a small international airline in January of 1979. I spent the next seven years traveling the world and spending significant time in Germany and England where I became involved with brewing beer and making wine. In the winter of 1986 I was accepted at the University of California, Davis, and in March of 1989 I graduated with a BS in Fermentation Science. After spending a couple of years making wine, I became one of the first degreed brewers in the micro brewing industry and spent all of the 90s starting new operations or attempting to save struggling ones. Looking for a little more security in 1999 I took a position as a Quality Assurance supervisor for Miller Brewing.
