Randal's Story
I immensely enjoy picture taking since it enables me to be out there and see all these beautiful and marvellous things nature has created.
Would you like to see some of my pictures? Go to the world wide web and write photographicmoments.se There, you can even contact me by clicking on my name in upper right hand corner.
What would I like to do in the future? Perhaps try to establish a business selling pictures of nature. I have had an exhibition that went well.
After more than 30 years of living Swedish, I have many quirks in my English. If something puzzels you, it's probably just that I mixed up a Swedish word with an English one. I can't always find the most proper or even at times correct word to use. When visiting the US, people can say that I speak very good English (for being a foreigner).

So what's happened with me since moving to Sweden? I moved as an idealist and am still inclined be so. For instance, I feel that parents should have equal time with kids, each working half time, dividing economy equally etc. etc. That didn't pan out well for me in practice though. I was full-time house husband around 15 years.
Educated as social-psychologist, I got my first real work in Sweden at the age of 44 as a technician ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ life is not logical. I am retired but was employed as a Calibration Engineer in a pharmaceutical company. I was also an acting Safety Engineer (when I had the time).
I have 2 favourite pastimes:
1. Being outdoors and experiencing areas that are not commercially exploited. In the Fall, this entails mushroom hunting. Sweden, is a good place for mushrooms. The weather is not too warm and there is plenty of rain - much as, for example, in Washington/Oregon. First I learned mushrooms to pick them for eating, but then we got radioactive fallout from Chernobyl (mostly Cesium 137) and now I mostly appreciate them for environmental beauty and just plain hunting them to hunt them.
2. Being active politically as a "Green", I am presently chairman / president of Salem county's (pop. 15,000) division of the Green Party of Sweden and am elected to / partake in councils of differe...Expand for more
nt types.
My favourite vacation lasts 5 or more weeks long and entails driving nights between wildernesses and National Parks of the SW in USA with all day long sunrise to sunset hiking sojourns in and out. I go without maps and it feels somewhat adventurous. Once I felt lost in 120 ÃÂÃÂÃÂðF heat with little water while in slick rock country, but that was the only time. There is so much beauty. I also appreciate the Indian Culture when it is visible. I have seen/experienced some stuff not normally available to white men. Sometimes I have even gotten to feel a tiny bit of mutual kindred spirit in personal meetings with an Indian. I'm always on the make for this vacation. Last time, the day after landing in the US, I had a retinal detachment and had to return to Sweden. I pretty much lost my right eyesight - can only discern shadows with it - and I have unfortunately similar problems in my left eye- that is to say some lesser detachment in connection with vitreous gel detachment.
Perhaps I would have had a better life economically and socially had I not fastened in Sweden, but there are good as well as bad sides to Sweden. I have earlier planned to move to The mts in NC or Zion, UT, because of high costs of living here plus other unenjoyable stuff. But now, I don't know. For the time being, I live near to Stockholm, but with plenty of unspoiled woods out the back door more or less. I rode my bicycle 4 km to work by way of paths where parts were flooded up to the middle of the wheel at times. It is partially along a lake where one can see herons all year long if its light enough. (Winter has daylight between 10AM to 2 PM). In the winter, I tried to walk to work, but when the snow got knee-deep, I gave it up.
I was happily re-married, but haven't remarried after y wife passed away..
Feel free to drop me a line at above mentioned, crypted addresses!
