CLASS OF 1964

Randy's Story

Life I married Jean Gourlie, Class of 67,shortly after graduating from UW Madison. I was in the USAF when we got married and then we were at Edwards AFB in California for my tour of duty. Gave us an opportunity to visit a lot of great areas in California. We then returned back to Oconomowoc where we had two kids and I worked in multiple management positions and obtained two MBAs from UW-Whitewater. In my career, I became interested in consulting and business systems. That resulted in a move to Minneapolis area. We lived there for 10 years and spent a lot of time boating and camping. When we weren't spending time on the small lake we lived on, we would take the boat down the St Croix, Mississippi, or on many of the huge lakes on the Canada border where we would camp , fish, and boat. While in Minnesota, I was given an opportunity to lead a major business process and system implementation for a company in Winston-Salem, NC. At that time, our daughter had graduated from college and our son was going to UW-Madison. So, we were semi-empty nesters. We have been here in NC since 1996 and really e...Expand for more
njoy the "Piedmont" area. The Blue Ridge mountains are 90 minutes away, Outer Banks about 200 miles away, and Hilton Head is 330 miles. We liked Hilton Head so much that we have two weeks of Marriott time share there. We have been exchanging one week lately to go to San Diego or Palm Springs and really enjoy that. Like to have kids/grandkids share the units with us on our vacations. The consulting and Information Technology positions I have held since being in NC have been quite interesting and provided me with an opportunity to see may interesting areas of the country, and some International travel. My Grandfather built a cottage on Okauchee Lake back in 1920. It is still in the family and now serves as a gathering point in the summer. I am planning on being back there this summer and enjoy seeing the two kids, two grandkids, sister, and my Mom and just take it easy. Trying to coordinate visits with the 45 year reunion. Still enjoy golf and up until this last year, I was still pretty good at it. I am ready to get out of the rat race and devote time to golf, fishing, and just goofing off.
