Randall's Story
HI everyone...
Good Morning... I hope all is well and doing well on your end.
I was sent home from the hospital yesterday afternoon at about 4:30. Surgery went well... much bigger incision than i had expected... looks like someone slit my throat and a vampire took over.. lol... just trying to make light of it. i am taking it easy I got up at 10:00 this morning . i didn't want to lay down yesterday when i got home..i had been in bed for a day and a half.. then I took my pain meds and decided to take a nap... they sent me home with more meds that what i went in there with... but now there is an end in sight and i and excited about it...
I am going to try and get on at different times during the day as i feel better...
The doctor the company that handles STD agreed to an initial period of 30 days of Short Term Disability... to expire on April13th.. with a possibility of 2 more weeks... I am going to take my time healing, my neck is very sore, but will get better soon according to the doc... as you know my main problems existed in 2 areas of my spine C4 and C5 and C5 and C6... disc in between c4 and...Expand for more
c5 was deteriored to almost non-extentence, c5 and C6 apparently was where most all of the sever pain i was experienceing was radiating from... the disc was also shot and had slid over top of a bone spur and was also crushing the nerves in my spine. i am already experincing feeling a great reduction in numbness in my arms and hands.. I plan on no stress and as much rest and relax as i can take in the next month... I am not allowed to do much of anything anyway.. need help bathing for awhile.. need help in and out of bed...no driving.. no lifting over 10 pounds... looks like lots of pain meds, sleep and Internet... many thanks to all who are handling my work load while i am recuperating. I still cant believe they send me home already...
PS... I am so excited about getting better.. I am almost to the end of the road on this journey that i started 7 years ago when i opted for pain management. Made the right decicion to have the surgery when meeting with Neurosurgeon on Dec 7th 2011.. last cigaret was January 8th 2012... YES, i am still smoke free and still counting...DAY 67.... feel free to share with whomever
