Randall M.'s Story

Randall Michael Mooney (some knew me as Joyal, my stepfather's last name) is a father of six and grandfather of ten. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi; raised in Panama City, Florida; and has lived and worked in Columbus, Mississippi; Beaumont, Texas; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and returned and has resided in Jackson, Mississippi, since July 1987. Randall with his wife Deidre, their four sons and two daughters; relocated to Jackson as the result of a prayerful decision to move to a town where they could start a business, a ministry, and enable their children to grow up, and finish their school years in one school district. Mr. Mooney began writing in the seventh grade after taking a creative writing course. He is also a skilled musician and songwriter. He plays seven different instruments, and toured playing with a contemporary Christian band in the 1970's and 1980's. He has written over three hundred songs and performed at concerts and festivals from Florida to Pennsylvania. In 1981 he performed in ¿Jesus ¿81¿ in Texas, and wrote the music for a documentary film. In addition to song writing, he has written hundreds of poems, and many articles for church and business newsletters. Upon moving his family back to Mississippi in 1987, he placed music on the back burner and began developing his writing skills. He is currently working to develop a writing career with many manuscripts in progress on a wide variety of topics. Presently under contract with Literary Agent, Terry Burns and Hartline Literary Agency, they are working to get two of his books, The Seed and the Sower and The Blogs of a Righteous Dude, under contract for publication. Other works soon to be available are, The Illegitimate Journey, (the memoir and personal testimony of a teen drug addict and run-away from home), The Phone Call, (the story of a Christian family dealing with the suicide death of a son), The Gift, (an inspirational fiction about God's gift to man), and The Heir, (a novel about a man inheriting the Bible on diskette in a future society where religion and the Bible is considered outlawed contraband, and his private search for God in a Godless world). Since his ordination into the ministry in 1974, Rev. Mooney has ministered throughout the Southeastern and Northeastern United ...Expand for more
States as a featured speaker for churches, Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowships, conferences, and conventions of many different denominations. He has also ministered in Belize, Mexico, Columbia and Israel. Upon his return to Mississippi in 1987, he and his wife, Deidre, started a construction company called DeRanz Building Systems, Inc., deranz.com, and started a ministry in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, in one of the worst drug infested areas of the city called, The Rock House. Through their ministry and their construction company they have worked hard to make a difference in the "buckle of the Bible belt." They were also two of the founding members of a ministry in Jackson, Mississippi called Mission Mississippi. Along with Jackson¿s Lee Paris, Pat Morley (author of The Man in the Mirror), and the now departed Thomas Skinner, a committed group of seventeen men and women began a movement which continues across the state and country promoting racial reconciliation among Christians and the world. In addition to writing professionally, he is also working to expand his business interests. Along with DeRanz Building Systems, Inc., (a commercial construction company) he has started several other companies in Mississippi. Creatergy.com (Creative Energy for the Twenty-First Century) is an internet company committed to website design and hosting for small businesses with limited internet budgets. DeRanz Media and Graphics is a division of The DeRanz Companies established to provide vinyl graphics and designs for company vehicles, signs and billboards. Crossover Publications develops teaching and evangelism tools and materials. Night Song Music is an independent music company and digital recording studio. This apostle of business and ministry loves God, loves being creative, and is determined to use all the gifts God has given him through Christ to the best of his ability. Current ministry projects include, teaching drug addicts and alcoholics the way to take control of their addictions and their lives through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is also working with various ministries to establish fresh outreaches to desperate inner city neighborhoods through outreach to the poor and homeless, and those afflicted by addictions and destructive lifestyles.
