Rev. Randall's Story

Life: Served with the US Navy for 8-years after graduation (Navy Nuclear Weapons Program & Underwater Demolition Teams), Defense Atomic Support Agency, Los Alamos, White Sands, Sandia Corp. and Lawrence Radiation Labs. Received maximum cumulative lifetime radiation dosage in one shot, and have worked on everything from Nuclear Weapons, (Warheads, Propulsion & Guidance Systems), quasi-bionic memory (digital memory with the ability to "learn"), electrophoretic seperatorations on the Space Lab for early human genome studies, helped design and install the first freeze dried coffee process (here in Houston). Attended college for 20-years (perpetual student), Penn State, U. of Tenn., U. of Md., Old Dominion, Penn State (Cumberland), Univ. of Madrid, OLLU-San Antonio, etc. After meeting her on a blind date, and knowing her for only 35 days, I Married Elizabeth (Liz) Douglas in December of 1970. It was love at first sight. Have two daughters: Dr. Elizabeth Marie Scallan/Simon, DVM (Equine Surgeon). Catherin Dian Scallan Nugent, Business Professional & world traveler (UK, France, Italy, India, Spain, Singapore, etc.). We have two grandbabies (Brinlee & Elarae) and another one (Harrison August Nugent) due around Jan 2013. We REALLY love our grandbabies!! I retired as Director of Marketing/Technical Documentation, from a Baker-Hughes company, in Feb. of 1998, but have continued my work in the ministry. I enjoy preaching, teaching, lecturing and spreading God's Word. Liz ran a brownie & girlscout troop, then managed Jackrabbit Neighborhood (the largest Girl Scout Neighbor...Expand for more
hood in Houston at that time). I was a Reserve Ranger for all the district camps. Most of our girls stayed in Scouts until their Senior Scout level. Many of the girls (now moms and all grown up) stay in contact with Liz. My beautiful wife (Liz) has retired as World Operations Manager for Intertek, Inc, Christmas of 2011, Catie gave me 12 mallard chicks which we raised (11 of them) to adulthood. The following May we has a "Release Party" and returned them to the wild. We have 3 dogs(Scud, Molly & Priaia) and two cats (Mr Big & Fannie), which we also love. I would enjoy hearing from anyone from the class of 1964. I have public facebook and email accounts (see R A S C A L 4 6 at S U D D E N L I N K . N E T). Since our retirement, we sold our ranch in Crockett, TX. and our home of 32-years in Spring and moved out to Lake Conroe, in Willis, Tx. We're on the lake, but the lake "moved away" right after we moved here and built our home. So, my tritoon boat makes a good camper. I can still fish off the boat dock though. Our evenings are spent on the back patio near the spa, watching the moon & stars. I enjoy a late evening cup of coffee or green tea and Liz has her chilled wine. It's so peaceful. Sometimes we don't even talk. In the front patio under the Pin Oak, is the perfect place for morning coffee, watching the new morning grow, and reading the news paper. Liz and I went to the Sam Houston 45th reunion and it was a blast. Hopefully, our next get-together (50th reunion?) will be as great. God has blessed me and my family. Life is fantastic! in His service.
