Actually have a degree in Youth & Single Ministry, and yet had a 'wild' side while attending SIU in Broadcasting... Such extremes! Still do... Mr. Bob Hammonds.. Most consistant teacher / administrator I had at RHS.. Dr. Haygood (yes, he has his 'DR.' since leaving RHS for the University of Louisiana) about the wonderful mix of Passion, Music, Art and Sport.... Oh, boy! Should I give away the secrets? How about the art of "Robin-Hooding"... Taking "FOR SALE" signs from one yard and placing them in the next yard! We ended up putting many around Reitz High School and made the Evansville Press front page.. Harmless joke.. Realtors would pick them up and return them to the proper lots.. (OR) ...Nascar on the 'cub' football dirt.. Couldn't call it a field.. No grass would grow beyond a patch or two.. It was like grading it for practice.. Now a nice paved parking lot below the fieldhouse and bowl.. Taping poor DeVillez up in athletic tape and hanging him by the waist in the old fieldhouse attic.. It was August practice and about 95 to 100 with high humidity up there in the rafters! (OR) "Atomic Bomb" (Ben Gay type of ointment) on a clean and washed jock strap of a freshman.. They would not feel it 'dry', as they put it on...BUT about 20 to 30 minutes into practice..."FIRE"! That was long before high school.. For an outgoing guy, I was gunshy around the girls at my school.. I dated and flirted with the girls from Mater Dei, Central and Harrision.. Dated a Memorial grad who was a Freshman at UE, when I was a senior... I had a load of crushes, but chickened out.. Several girls gave me the riot act years later.. Sorry, Terri! Geez? Working with the Freshman boys and girls chiors as a senior helper, I could be the ugliest guy, but with a hot car and working on the radio, I had the Freshman girls in the palm of my hand.. Never took advantage of that! That I was loyal to them and always went out of my way to encourage someone who was looked down on.. I always took my biggest risk by hanging with the 'untouchables' (to the 'in' kids) and bringing them into drama, music, speech and sports! I have had a 'bump in the road' in my late 40's...
