Randolph's Story

I went to Marshall University in 1969 and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology . I minored in Anthropology and Sociology . I was inspired to write poetry in 1970 after seeing the movie "Dr. Zhivago ." I vowed ,after seeing the movie , that I would one day write the poem that Zhivago wrote to Lara in the movie . On November 2nd 1970 ,just 12 days before the plane crash ; I wrote my very first poem . I was basically a failure at poetry . I worked at various jobs from 1973 thru 1982 when my father died and I moved home to care for my mother . I did this for the next 19 years until 2001 ,when she died . I lived off my savings until April 2003 . Just as I was destitute , I got sick with Crohn's Disease . I had no money or medical coverage . After leaving the hospital with thousands in medical bills , I went to the woods and thanked God for giving me life and I prayed for the good health of my family and friends . I asked nothing for myself . I was prepared to die because I could not afford the drugs to keep me alive . I then received word that all my medical bills had been paid and my medications would also be supplied . A few months later in 2004 I was made Treasurer of our community organization in Helen called WeGROw. In May of 2005 I received the "Gift" of poetry from God . Since then , I have written more than 150 poems , a book of poetry , the poem "Lara" that I vowed to write 35 years previously . I have posted 100 of ...Expand for more
my poems on Poemhunter under the alias name of "Greenwolfe 1962 " and if you do a search for that name on the internet you will find out more about me as well as the various locations of my poems . I am now the Vice President of our Organization known as the Winding Gulf Restoration Organization . I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Upper Guyandotte Watershed Association . I am still unknown as a poet since no one except you knows who I really am so far and I have not begun to publicly sell my book . So for now , I have the best of lives . I have never married and I have no children , though that may change since I have found a wonderful woman to love . The only change I have noticed lately is that women pay more attention to me , though I don't know why . I hope my life doesn't change much , I enjoy it as it is . I am in the process of writing the " Greatest Love Story Never Told". Based on the story of my life . I hope to finish it before I die . I live with severe depression . which I have used to my advantage in poetry but has been a detriment to any true happiness in my life until now . I now take medications for that as well and God has blessed me more than most and I have no complaints . Life , has been good to me and I am happy to be on Classmates to get reacquainted with my friends .
