Randy's Story
Life
My life's work for more than twenty-seven years has been a deep engagement with the wonders of learning and community building across cultures. As a scholar, a writer, a storyteller, a teacher, a cultural historian, a linguist and a researcher, my work has been, at heart, an interdisciplinary course of study. My Ph.D., in religion, is from Claremont Graduate University, where I had the good fortune to have Rolf Knierim as my advisor. My education did not end at Claremont as I went on to Korea University in Seoul, Korea and studied modern Korean history and culture.

ds include religionist, humanist, Koreanist, and philosopher. I have taught young and old both in southern California and most recently in Seoul, South Korea.
Though I still pride myself on being a Texas native, I lived in Los Angeles for twenty-five years and now, most recently, in Seoul, Korea for the past almost five years. It was in Los Angeles that I met and married my wife of twenty-five years. She is my best friend, colleague and partner for life.
I am an avid reader, enjoy photography, love to watch Korean history dramas and enjoy hiking in the mountains with my wife.
