Randy's Story
Basically, I'm a Survivor. I've handled Schitzo Affective Disorder since at LEAST 1976 (after my first suicide attempt), did time in the Army and National Guards of Kansas and Texas with it not being diagnosed or treated for over seventeen years. I've survived a marriag of 17 years wherin the last eight were without love, or much of any common ground. I've survived rejection, abandomnent, seventeen suicide attempts, bicycling over 200,000 miles on many bikes in many different places, homelessness, 13 years of not knowing where I'd be tomorrow much less a year in the future (this has ended, I sincerely hope), and the list goes on and on and on. . . .I won't bore you with the gory details here.
I'm on Cape Cod, in MA right now, working hard to establish roots and rebuild my life after eight months of hell in south Florida, starting literally from scratch (not like I haven't done that several times before!). I'm continuing treatment for my Beast thanks to the VA, learning what Unconditional Love is firsthand, reaching out to the community via volunteer work and a Meet Up Group (The South Yarmou...Expand for more
th Rolling and Strolling Society), as well as a local church (OMG!). . .
No kids. My blood family is pretty much all dead, and the two siblings I have left (Roger and Pat) haven't wanted anything to do with me since around 78 or so. This has damaged me, but like every other challenge so far in my life, I'm beating it.
My main transport now is a vintage five speed Columbia bicycle, tricked out with gear I have carried on all my bikes since 85 in Kansas. Bambi, my lady, drives me around on weekends and weeknights as needed, but I am back on bikes for the first time since around 2004.
I'm still a Nice Guy, but I do have a temper, especially when people hurt me or the people I love, in which case I'm Hell on Wheels.
Dealing with a LOT of issues, and continuing a self improvement program I started in 97 with my divorce.
My goals are to make a life with Bambi, her family, and friends here on Cape Cod in MA, to improve as a person, and continue to re enter places I've left behind long ago.
I'm not going to bore you with my story here. If you want to know more, just ask.
