Raquel's Story
I began going to Figueroa School as a third grader. I had just moved from the city of Gardena. My first teacher there was Ms. Love, I believe that was her name. My fourth and fifth grade teacher and my hero was Mr. Russo. I then had Mrs. ??? for 6th grade. I can¿t believe I can't remember my sixth grade teacher's name. Anyways, I was involved in ballet, chorus, and anything else that pertained to performing. I Loved it. My best friend was Claudia Hernandez, if anyone knows where she is now at, let me know. I would love to get in contact with her. I also hung out with Estela Dominguez, Jose, Rosa, Carlos, Elvie. My first boyfriend was Fabian; whose cousin was Jerry. I loved this...Expand for more
school; although it was a culture shock at the beginning for me personally. I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience it.
I hope my friends and others would remember me as a friendly person. A person who¿d cared about others and our school. I often didn¿t go to recess and volunteered my time in helping the school staff in cleaning the school yard. I would also volunteer in assisting teachers with the kindergartners and first graders. I also volunteered in assisting the school nurse and the librarian. Some of you might remember me getting you out of class to go take the scoliosis (back, spinal test).
