Ray's Story

Received a BS Chemistry from Notre Dame in 1974 and a degree in Science Education from the University of Maryland in 1980 then taught high school science for many years. Married Therese Yee, Loyola University College of Nursing , in 1975. She was in the Army Nurse Corps for 25 years and retired in 1998. Got to spend some time in foreign countries, 8 years in Germany and 11 years in Texas before coming back to the Chicago area. We have 6 children Colin, Kevin, Kirsten, Erin, Shannon, and Ryan. They have finally all graduated from college and we are now enjoying the empty nester life. Colin (Carnegie-Mellon) Kevin (Texas A& M) Kirsten and Erin (Notre Dame) Shannon (Central Michigan) and Ryan (Michigan State). Therese and I recently (July 2020) ...Expand for more
moved to St Robert, Missouri which is just outside the main gate of Ft. Leonard Wood. We decided to retire near the military since Therese is retired Army and we enjoy some Army benefits. We picked this area because after 14 years in Michigan it is warmer and still close to the Chicago area. Before leaving teaching I did spend 1 year at Providence Catholic and Oak Forest HS and 3 years at Minooka HS and Crete-Monee HS It was a bit odd to wander the halls as a teacher in places I had been as a student. I also got to meet and sometimes teach children of fellow Tinley Park Alumni. And occasionally an old teacher would be there, too. Mr Hicks from geometry was in Augsburg, Germany while Coach Farley was at Oah Forest. It can be a very small world.
