Ray's Story

Life After HS I completed West Point, married and spent the next 5 years in the service, 3 in Germany. We came back with two daughters, and moved back to Merrillville for 6 years. I worked at US Steel, finished grad school at Notre Dame (MBA) then moved to Oklahma City, from there to Tulsa, and from there to Memphis. Working in Engineering companies as an Electrical Engineer and Project Manager, ( travelling maybe too much) Nancy and I divorced in 98 I think, after our yougest daughter got married. I now live in St. Louis working for a medium sized Oil company with facilities across the mid-west ( still travel alot ) Cleveland, Indianapolis, Madison,Houston,Newark, and Wichita. I have played and still play hardball baseball! The last two years I've been on two 18 open park district leagues, and one 30 "old man's" league !! This may be my last year though! Please write if you have time. Nov.2003 - 3rd baseman for the 40 and over "Mid-south Warriors" MSBL national championship baseball team (won Atlanta Regional May 03 and won Florida National tournament Nov 03 )Record 13-0 ! Nov. 2004 - Played 3rd base for the "Mid-South Warriors" 40 and over at the National Tournament in Florida ( this year we lost in the Championship game to Puerto Rico ! 2nd place)record 12-1 April 2005 - Still playing on 3 teams in St. Louis ( This may really be the last year !!!!) Renegades 28 , Pirates 38 and Bandits 40 !! Sept.2005 - Played 3rd base for "Mid-South Warriors" 40 and over team winning 6 straight games at Huntsville Alabama Regional Senior Baseball League Labor Day Tournament! Pitched a shut-out in game 5 !!!!! October 2005 - Played 3rd for "Mid-South Warriors" 40 and over team in Phoenix - National Adult Baseball League -National tournament - went undefeated and won national championship! November 2005 - Player /Manager for St. Louis Bandits 40 in Florida Men's Senior baseball league and lost ...Expand for more
to North Carolina in final four competion. Ran out of pitching !!! Spring 2006 - Yet another year of 30 and 40 baseball teams and leagues ! Gave up playing with the 20 year olds though. Maybe this will be the last year!!! Still working with Center Oil Co. in Saint Louis, traveling to Toledo, Cleveland, Newark, Baltimore, Norfolk, Selma,NC., Madison, WI., Indianapolis, and Peoria ( too often ). Mid-South Warriors lost championship game in Atlanta Regional Men's Senior tournament over Memorial Day Weekend - Caught 9 innings Friday, 9 Sat. and 9 Sunday ! ( Regular Catcher could not show up) October 2006 - Played 3rd on Mid-South Warriors again in Phoenix and won national title again "back to back". we came from behind 9-1 in the bottom of the ninth to win 10-9 beating San Diego Gold. Purchased a 40 acre farm 90 miles north of St. Louis where I spend every possible weekend ! It's quiet. The drive to the house is a 3/4 mile dirt road. Perfect. Spring 2007 - Played on two teams 40 Bandits and 35 A's in the local Saint Louis baseball leagues! Maybe this is the last season !! November 2007 - Player/ Coach for Saint Louis Bandits 45 team that played in MSBL championship game in Florida - losing to Detroit ! Will have to play another year, the St. Louis Bandits- will have to win a national title next year ! Center Oil Company Terminals changed name to ARC TERMINALS - Still traveling alot, now to include Houston, Cleveland,Toledo, Peoria, Madison, Selma NC. , Norfolk, VA, Newark, Baltimore.
