Ray's Story
School/Career Life:
Right after graduating from Madison Sr. High, I attended Miramar College, specializing in Law Enforcement. I graduated college in 1986 and then moved to Kauai, Hawaii to start a career. I was a police officer with the Kauai Police Department from 1989-1991. I continued working in the law enforcement field and eventually returned to San Diego in 1998. Currently, I work with the San Diego Sheriff's Department at the South Bay Courthouse in Chula Vista.
Love Life:
Once upon a time...there was a man and he had a dream. His dream was to find his soul mate, his partner in life and his best friend. This man had been thru some terrible past relationships and just wanted to settle down with someone special. He searched and searched, but never could find her. Convinced that he was going to be an old and lonely man, he was about to give up on love. Then one day while at work, he expressed himself to a co-worker. That co-worker told him that she had a close relative, living in the Philippines, that may be interested in knowing more about him. He hesitantly gave her a photo of himself and wrote his address on the back side of the photo. Two months past by and there was no response. Then one day, he received a letter from a girl named Lauren in the Philippines. She wrote to him frequently and started to call him. In time, they both kept in contact with each other, for nearly a year.
This man wanted to follow his dreams, so he decided to go to the Philippines and see Lauren. Upon arrival, he seen Lauren for the first time....she had been everything that he expected. On the first two days, he and Lauren talked about their past life, family, cultural background, educational background and all there was to know about each other.
On the second night, together, while he was asleep....he heard a noise and woke up. It was Lauren sitting at his bed side, and she was crying. When he looked around, he found that there were tiss...Expand for more
ue papers surrounded on the bed. He asked Lauren what was wrong and she replied, "when you are asleep...it seems as though you cannot breathe. I was so scared and didn't know what to do and it really hurt me to see you in this way".. It was at that moment that he knew for sure that Lauren would become his future wife. The man was completely taken away by Lauren's concern and assured her that everything would be alright. Nobody had ever cried for this man in the way that Lauren did that night. It touched his heart and he let a teardrop escape from his eye, not because it made him sad, but because for the first time in his life, he had found happiness....he had found his true love. He explained that he had a condition known as "sleep apnea", which obstructs the airway while sleeping and causes difficulty in breathing. The man asked Lauren "when did you fall in love...or know that you were in love with me?".. Lauren replied, "I knew that I loved you, the moment that I kissed you"..
Some people may think that this is just some fairy tale story, but I can assure you, everything you have just read is true. See....I am that man in the story. And on May 30th, 2002 at 10am, in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines....Lauren and I were married.
We currently live in San Diego, in the community of North Park. We have a Siamese cat and 2 Blood Parrot fish. No kids at this time, but we are working on it. In my spare time, I like to surf the internet and help other women from across the country to help find their soulmate. I also like to go surf fishing, but only when the weather/water conditions are favorable.
When I returned to San Diego back in 1998, I was fortunate enough to re-connect with my friend, Grant Tom. From time to time, we go fishing together. Grant has also created a website, which incorporates family, friends and fishing. A special section for the Madison Alumni and past and future events can be found at luckie8 dot com
