Ray's Story

After graduation I Enrolled at FIU for a business degree. I wanted to work for myself and have my own business. I only attended 1-Yr. before I screwed things-up and got my girl-friend pregnant and things drastically changed. Due to my stupidity, we lost the baby and thru the current changes in our life we lost each other. I can pretty-much sum all that up to me being a big-jerk, young and dumb and very mis-guided, didn't know what I had until it was gone.Anyway, during that time some good-friends helped me out (Jack Penney)and I went to work for Dade County shop-2 as a line mechanic working on police vehicles for a couple of Yrs. I had to leave that job for reasons that were beyond my control. So... I wanted to work for myself anyway and found myself in a 2-Yr. apprenticeship program and acquired my Aluminum Mechanics License and after doing some research moved to Fort Myers,FL. Fort Myers at that time was the mobile home capital and in the #1 fastest growing county in Florida. Needless to say, there was plenty of work and plenty of people to provide a service to. So I stayed here and made my mark on the area. The business, Custom Design Aluminum. The Aluminum Business made us a good living and lasted for 35-Yrs. In between those years, I got married, raised 3-kids, built 2-homes and raise...Expand for more
d 2-grand-kids. They all have moved on now including my starter-wife. After that I sold the business when Hurricane Charley blew-thru, 35-Yrs. was enough. It was not fun anymore and I was burnt-out. Needless to say, I was retired, I thought. Anyway, I bought a new H-D Heritage Softail Classic and just like everybody else, the leather saddlebags started to cave-in. I fixed them so they wouldn't sag anymore. Folks seen what I did to my bags and they wanted it done to theirs as well.I got a Patent on the Lid and Kit-process and have been fixing and reinforcing all kinds of leather motorcycle saddlebags ever since. Goes to show, you just can't never tell whats going to happen or what lays in store. Check-out the Web-Site.Use your imagination, the company name is Leather Lid Inserts. All the roads I've been on have led me to the one I'm on today. I am now with a significant other or my sugar-mama and I operate the business from a shop on a property that's located on 4-acres with a ranch-home w/2-horses and 3-dogs in a rural area in North Fort Myers, FL. I still play the guitar and have a small classic-rock band that gets together every week. This keeps me out of trouble. Hope everything is great on your end and I hope all is well...
