Ray's Story
Life
After graduation I went to Iowa State. Had good company there with some others from BHS class of 88 including Mike McKelvey who I roomed with for two years. God bless him...I think all the crap we did may have had an effect on him as he is now a police captain in Mason City. Others from BHS who went to ISU include Eddie Connelly (crazy Eddie), Kevin Burt, Big "E" Eric Carlson, Russ Gazak and probably others that I'm forgetting at the moment (I will attribute that to too much Mad Dog, Yukon Jack and/or 'The Beast').
After ISU, I moved back to the QC with a degree in city planning and put my diploma to good use by promptly getting a job at UPS and helping a family member remodel their pet store (hmm not the best career move but I did enjoy that time...not a lot of responsibilities!)
I later worked for Iowa One Call as the Mapping Coordinator for their geographic information systems (GIS). I worked at a local planning commission ...Expand for more
for 3 years, a local engineering firm for 7 years and am now at Scott County as their GIS Coordinator.
In '97 I had a son and did the single parent thing for about 4-5 years. He lives with me and is a terrific kid. :)
In 2001 I reconnected with a friend from college. She was living in Omaha teaching elementary school and planning to relocate to the gulf coast of Florida when I contacted her. Luckily I saved her from certain sunburn and she decided to move to the east coast of Iowa instead. We got married in 2004 and have a beautiful daughter born in October of 2006.
Anyway, I just signed in here out of fun and curiosity. I wasn't real active at BHS in too much of anything aside from screwing around, but did enjoy that age and developed some lifelong friendships. I still stay in touch with Mike McKelvey and Erick Mishler, play sand volleyball with Ryan Riedesel and of course run into some of you from time to time in the QC's.
