school counselor I have done this for the past 10 years. There have been several articles about the work that I do in the local paper The Nanaimo Daily free Press recently I was features as a nieghborhood hero by the Students of John Barsby Senior Community School. I must say that being the kid that I was I sure gained alot of expereience from my childhood school days and of course the upbringing from my family members. I speak at other schools on the importance of education and safe schools. I breif educators parents police and social workers of the different signs that would suggest a young person may be in need of some positive guidess. The most important thing I discuss is not to judge the person but the behavior. People are who they are for whatever reason and the challenge in helping youngsters understand what they are faced with in the present and the future you can only do this by looking at ones past.
