Raymond's Story
Life
Following graduation from NFJC I joined the Jax Sheriffs Office and pursued a career in Law Enforcement. 30 years later I retired as the Det. Sgt over Intelligence for the JSO. I have found that I miss the People I had worked with over the years but did not miss the long hours and stressful situations.
During those 30yrs I married Jennye Hickey (from the NB Forrest class of 70) and raised 2 boys. We have been married 27 years. Since retiring Jennye and I moved to the mountains in eastern Tenn. We have been here 11 years now and have found it be a great place to live. We love the changing seasons and now that we have convinced some friends to visit more often, we are, for now, going to stay here. Both of us have gotten the travel bug and try to go over seas at least every other year. In Sept 09 we, along with Herb and Debbie Wright, spent two weeks in England, Wales and Scotland. A wonderful trip with good friends. At present we are planning a 16 day trip back to Scotland in May 2011. What a great country to visit. The upcoming trip will be our 4th trip to Scotland. We just can not get enough of the great castles and all the history surrounding my ancestors homeland.
Jennye and I work on the NBF class of 68 reunions. I keep an updated contact list of alumni so any changes in your email, home addresses,or phone numbers should be forwarded to me. We can be reached through Classmates.com. Email me !! or call. I am in the phone listings in Sevierville Tn. We are looking forward to getting together at another reunion with friends past and present to talk about old times and catch up on what is happening now. Please take the time to update your contact information so I can make sure you are kept up to date on ...Expand for more
any reunion plans.
Update last years trip to Scotland and the Orkney Islands turned out great, what an adventure!! Just booked a 10 day visit to Munich, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg for May 2012. Can not wait as we have never been to this part of the world so it will truly be an adventure, I will post more pics upon our return. We had so much fun on the last trip to Europe that I just booked two weeks in Germany for Sept 2013. I am looking forward to great German beer, apple strudel and of course many great castles.
Looking forward to visiting with everyone at the next reunion which is July 12 and 13th, 2013. Well the reunion turned out pretty good it was nice to see everyone again. Just returned from two weeks in Germany. Another great trip, photos have been posted. Planning a move back to Fl in the near future, most likely the Fernandina area, We really miss family and friends and then back to traveling.
2019 has proven to be a tough year. I spent 17 days in the hospital in April, it began with a fall and tearing the rotator cuff on my left shoulder and escalated into open heart surgery to replace a valve. Surgeries were a complete success and I am getting much better everyday. Looking forward to getting back on the bike and doing some more traveling. Moving back to the St Augustine area is next on the list, then off on another adventure somewhere!
We finally made the move from Tn to the Saint Augustine area (Murabella at the World Golf Village). The move was physically demanding and stressful but we are settling in and enjoying a new life style which is less work and more golf and rides on the M/C. Looking forward to the end of this covid situation so we can again enjoy some more traveling.
