Frank's Story

Life Hey I was only at Lynnwood for my freshman and sophomore years then my mom's deterioating health dictated us moving to warmer cliamate (San Diego). I was probablay more better known as Huffer's (Howard) cousin. I was forever indebted to him for his taking me under his wing, back then, as I had just moved to Lynnwood. He brought me into his circle of friends and we had a lot of fun. Good memories! What follows was imported from my HS in S.D. Best of good luck and health-Frank I finished CHS and started down the path towards college at Humbolt State to study Forestry and Range Management, then found out you can get a job in the "Forestry" without a degree so I ended up being a CDF firefighter, seasonal for 3 years. It was alot of fun, sometimes alot of work. I started school in the off season at Mesa College studing Fire Scien...Expand for more
ce, and shifting to a career as a Fireman. My last season with CDF I was on the first helicopter "Heli-attack" crew in San Diego County. There I discovered flying. After much counciling with the crew pilots I decided to switch gears and go to SDSU and join the Air Force via the ROTC program. I did that and spent 12 years in the USAF. I started off in Lubbock Texas, where I met my future wife. I flew KC-135 air refueling tankers, then KC-10 (a version of the DC-10) cargo and air refueling tanker. I ended up as an instructor in the -10 when I left the USAF. I'm currently a pilot at Alaska Airlines and having a blast. We have two girls, one about to graduate HS (can't believe that), and a freshman too. I try to have as many San Diego layovers as possible so if you're on Alaska into or out of SAN on a 737 ask if I'm up front and say Hi!
