Gertrude's Story
After high school, I attended 8, yes 8, different colleges, and have enough credits for a PhD. After exploring Broadcasting, Human Services, Sociology, Geology, Education, Beer Drinking, and History, 19 years later, I finally settled on, and obtained my B.A. in English. I am now qualified to answer the phone and make copies.
I spent 5.5 years in the Air Force where I worked as a Personnel Specialist, and as an Alert Facility Controller. Although I volunteered to be sent overseas, and never opted for stateside bases, I ended up stationed in Nebraska. dirty jokes and puns; the worse, the better!
I've been living in Maryland for 22 years and am currently in the process of my second matrimectomy (after 24 years). C'est la Guerre. I have 4 children: Curly, Moe, and Larry, and their little sister.
I plan to return to school full time, soon, for an MSW. After I finish, and my daughter has finished high school, I hope to start a specialized camp for veterans somewhere in the mountains.
Eventually, I'd like to move to Central America or a deserted tropical island, although sometimes I still wish for a cave in the middle of the northern woods, particularly when dealing with DC area traffic.
Meanwhile, I write, work on my house and art, and spend quite a bit of time on the beach.
