Rebecca's Story
After high school decided to get married and start a family and had my daughter the year after graduation. I put my education on hold and shortly thereafter I was divorced. I enjoyed being a Mom and fortunately met a wonderful man and remarried several years later and started family #2.
Fortunately, my daughter and stepson were only four months apart and had grown up together as brother and sister from the age of two and that made life easier when their brother came into the picture. However, our son, Niko, had been diagnosed at the age of 15 months with Tay-Sachs disease and we were faced with the challenge of taking care of a terminally ill child and all that entails from diagnosis to ultimately losing our beloved angel.
Since that time I have had to pick myself up and dust myself off and went back to school and worked my way up from a CNA to an administrative medical secretary and now I am in my current role as a Program Director at a Major Medical Center in the Southeast. I work for very prominent surgeons and support a growing HPB pro...Expand for more
gram and research fellowship program within the Department of General Surgery. I enjoy the opportunity to work with physicians and researchers on a daily basis and the ongoing learning opportunity.
My husband and I have two beautiful grown children now, Ryan and Samantha who graduated from High School in June of 2007. They have grown to be responsible young adults and have learned to make their own decisions and I wish nothing but the most wonderful things for them in the future and I will always hold them close in my heart as they have been with us through the darkest of times.
By the grace of God, we were blessed with our son Jordan ten years ago and he is truly a blessing. He is so full of life and energy and love and a day does not go by that I am not thankful for him being given to us.
My husband and I now live in Charlotte, NC and we are very happy living in the south. New England will always be where we grew up and what made us who we are but this is our home now.
