Rebecca Gore:  

I attended MCHS and was in the band for 4 years, played basketball for 2 and organized the 1st Powderpuff football game in fall of 1965. Graduating in June-"66 i attended VA TECH for several months, but due to high anxiety, I dropped out and then attended a business school, and then later entered UVA to complete a 4 year degree in Secondary Science Education: - I wasn't allowed to enter the college because of being a female. I worked at Miller & Rhoades Dept. Store in Ch'ville, while attending college. I taught Head Start Kindergarten in the summer of '71 and '72 in Madison County. I started teaching at MCHS in the fall of 1972 and started the Varsity Softball program in the spring of 1973. I taught at MCHS for 20+ years, I was married in 1969, to Thomas B. Gore, from Reva Va. we had 2 children, Will born in 1976 and Anne born in 1979. (both attended MCHS. Unfortunately, Tom had a massive heart attack and passed away in '87 and my life turned upside down. I continued to teach, but due to the demands of a single mom resigned as a coach/teacher and took a teaching job in Orange County. It was a successful transition, and I taught there until june 2013.
