Rebecca's Story
Life”
Happily married to fellow classmate Bill Davis. We are permanently settled in Windermere, Florida. Bill retired Jan 1, 2022 after 50 years working in the theme park industry. Having retired at age 75, we are now traveling as much as we can while we are still physically able. Married at 18, Bill was in the Air Force for 4 years, spending a year in Vietnam. A believer in continuing education, he has a degree in Professional Fine Arts from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, a BS in Marketing/Business Administration from San Diego State University, and a Masters, MBA from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Me, I have many college units accrued from four different institutions, but never graduated in a single discipline, just a wide education in life and interests. Our son and daughter's families live near us and we enjoy our three grandkids often, Haile (Pronounced Hayley) age 16, Luke 16 and Andy 12. Our son, Bill Jr. is a Rice University and University of Texas Law School at Austin graduate and an attorney here in Orlando, FL with his own law firm. Our daughter, a CPA, Anna Catherine “Kaki” is a graduate of Miami of Ohio University and her Masters is from the University of Central Florida, UCF, She is the Senior VP of Tax for a large corporation here in Orlando for 16 years, after 15 years with KPMG Peat Marwick. We recently remodeled our ”Forever Home” building an addition that I jokingly call the...Expand for more
“”West Wing.” Our trip to Africa in January '20 still remains my top trip of a lifetime! At present, July '22, we have visited 85 countries and this has given me wonderful opportunities for my lifetime hobby of photography. Life today feels settled after living in six states and the country of Spain bought about by Bill's education and work transfers. We moved 24 times the first 48 years of marriage. I oversee the John F. Haile Memorial Scholarship Program at the San Diego Foundation that honors my brother who died at 17 as a high school senior in ‘65 at Will C.. Crawford High School in San Diego, CA. I also direct the continuing reprinting at Mars Hill University in North Carolina of my mom’s award winning family genealogy book. After the death of my brother she spent the rest of her life as a Certified Genealogist. I enjoy gardening and the natural wildlife in Central Florida that is often in my yard as we live on a lake in the Butler chain, photography, varied art pursuits, a continuing student of film, creative writing and different needlework hobbies. So many enjoyable things to do in life, so little time to do them! Update! Granddaughter Haile is Over the Moon as she was accepted in Early Decision and notified on my birthday December 15, that she will be attending Barnard College this fall '24. Barnard was her Dream College choice as it is not only an excellent college, but also is in her favorite place, New York City!
