Rebecca's Story
School
After high school, I attended Texas Christian University. I loved TCU, but loved Lloyd Mercer (also '69 THS) even more! We got married before I finished at TCU, but I still graduated in three years with a degree in Elementary Education.I also finished my Master's Degree in Special Education in 3 more years while working full time. I put Lloyd through school while he completed 5 college degrees. We had 4 children--2 girls, then 2 boys before he finished residency. I took 8 yea...Expand for more
rs off until our youngest child entered school, then I went back to work in Special Education. I retired 3 years ago after 26 years in the public schools. I had to retire for health reasons--I could not work 13 hour days any longer. I opened my own therapeutic riding center. I now work 4--8 hour days (for free of course!)--only the horses get paid! I am very happy now to be out of the stress of public school, but miss all my students. At least this way I get to keep some of them.
