Rebecca's Story
Okay, Cheryl, you asked for it so here goes. By the way, I was looking through a lot of pictures a couple of weeks ago and I found a photo of you and several others of my friends from Hanover Park High. Three days after graduation I moved to Grafenwohr, Germany with my family and lived there for about a year. My father than retired from the Army so we moved back to Arkansas in the summer of '67. I married in '70 and once again started moving around the country. My husband was in the Air Force for four years so I lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, Speicher, Germany, Laredo, Texas, and Selma, Alabama. After he finished his four-year enlistment, we moved back to a small farming community in Arkansas and he worked for the Corps of Engineers for 34 years and I worked in various secretarial jobs in hospitals and doctor offices. Our first child, a son, arrived in '75 and our daughter came along in '77. In '86, I fell and broke the only good leg I had to stand on so I have had to wear a long-leg brace ever since then. In '90, I was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome but I managed to work for four more years before finally having to retire. ...Expand for more
All-in-all I feel that God has given me a very blessed life. I have three beautiful granddaughters ages 6, 6, and 7 and my first grandson is due around Nov. 2nd. I chauffeur the grandchildren to and from school each day and babysit them until their parents come in from work. I give the girls credit for keeping me moving constantly--at least I'm not too feeble to get around at this point! My husband and I moved from our farm in the country to our present location about three years ago so we could be closer to our children and grandchildren. At least here, we are not surrounded by rice fields--they are notorious for being breeding grounds for mosquitos and being good homes for water moccasins. I hope you have had a good and fruitful life, Cheryl. I keep up with Angie Bruno Pela on facebook but she's the only classmate that I have had any contact with. Do you ever hear from Carolyn Crialese, Diane Monik, or Clara Speranza? I would love to be able to reach them again. Well, I don't have anything else to inform you of. As you can see, I've lived a pretty quiet life but that's the way I like it. Take care and let me hear from you.
