Rebekah's Story

Life In May 1995, I met Russell Storman in Biloxi, MS while volunteering on an American Red Cross disaster trip. We were married 27 Sep 97 on Navarre Beach, Florida. Russell is in the US Air Force. After I left S.I.A. I was homeschooled until I graduated in 1996. I graduated from Living Heritage Academy in Lewisville, TX in June 96. I finished one year of college at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS and East Mississippi Community College at Columbus Air Force Base, MS. In Dec 97 we went to Germany for three years. From Germany we spent three years in Paradise...Oahu, Hawaii. In March 2004 we moved to the island of Curacao. It's part of the Netherlands Antilles in the Southern Caribbean, 40 miles North of Venezuela. In March 2005, Russell and I along with our dog arrived on the island of Guam. We were on Guam for 2 years....2 looong years! We left Guam in March 2007 for the Sunshine State. We'd been overseas for 9 years....it was definitely a change for us. We're currently stationed at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Russell works at the AF Combat Weather Center. We purchased a one-bedroom condo on the same beach we were married on 10 years ago. We've come full circle. We have no children...just our 12 year old boxer named Pogo. School I attended Sharkey Issaquena Academy from Kindergarten through seventh grade. I left SIA in the Spring of my seventh grade year. I was homeschooled by my parents. m Lighthouse Christian Academy in Lewisville, TX in June 1996. College After graduating high school I moved to Columbus, MS. I attended Mississippi University for Women during the Fall of 96. In the Spring of 97, I started taking classes on Columbus AFB through East Mississippi Community College. While living in Florida and Curacao I took online classes through Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. Workplace While living in Columbus, MS I worked in retail at Goody's Family Clothing. During our tour in Germany I worked at the Commissary stocking shelves at night. It was a great job...good supervisors, good hours and great pay. In Hawaii, I worked with the Tickets & Tours office on base. I loved my job...got to travel to Hawaii, Maui and Kauai doing hotel inspections. Also got to see and do a lot on Oahu. This was by far the best job I've ever had. I didn't work in 2004. I traveled back and forth between Curacao and Florida every other month. While on Guam I worked on base at the TMO office (Traffic Management Office). I worked in the Outbound section helping the military members ship their household goods to their next duty station. Here in Florida I am a substitue for 3rd-5th grades in the local school district. Military I married into the miltary in September 97. I am now an official Air Force wife. I love the military lifestyle and everything that goes with it. I've been able to see the world thanks to the Air Force.
