Reed's Story
Reed August Frehner grew up in Neptune City, NJ. He had no siblings. At the age of six, Reed showed interest in playing the piano and his parents obtained a piano and lessons. This
proved to be one of the most important gifts his parents could bestow and this interest continued and grew throughout his life.
Reed took piano lessons until he was 19. He bought a combo organ and played with some classmates who were musicians and this led to a desire to join a band. He joined a local band based out of Point Pleasant named "Smiling Max" and the group played a number of bars in New Jersey, becoming house band at Good Time Charlie's in Seaside. In 1978 he joined another
band named "Moondance" and played bass guitar and sang. Around this time a strong interest developed in recording and Reed bought his first serious tape recorder. For many years he recorded popular songs of the day and continued to upgrade his recording studio.
In 1982, Reed was accepted into a training program with his employer Continental Ins...Expand for more

for American International Group (AIG) where he rose to a management position as Director.
Reed married Patricia in October 1983 and they had two daughters, Mary and Aubri. Mary attended Montclair and Rutgers colleges and became a health inspector. Aubri attended Rutgers and Temple universities and became a speech therapist. Both married and in 2021 gave birth to a boy (Patrick) and a girl (Theresa), one month apart.
In 2008/2009 Reed recorded and produced two albums of popular music with two female vocalists. In 2017 he fulfilled a lifelong passion to record, produce, and release an album of original progressive music entitled "Threshold".
Reed retired in August of 2020 and continued with his passion for composing and recording music.
