Erin's Story

Life I married almost a year after Graduation; I will be celebrating my 19 yr wedding anniversary in Mar 2005. My husband is in the AF and that has moved us to several locations, we have lived at two different bases in Germany for a total of 7 years, 6 years in SC, and 1 in Korea. We are currently stationed in Texas, not sure if this will be our final tour or not. I have 3 wonderful kids, 18, 16,and 14. The oldest graduated last May, boy did that stir memories. I have been blessed with being able to teach dance for the last 12 years even with all the moving we do, and I also work for the Department Of Defense as a GS employee in the Avionics Test Equipment School house, where newbie Airman do all their tech training. so I stay very busy, but am extremely happy. Life is great! Never would I have dreamed that I would have as many friends all over the world as I do and that I have been blessed with visiting 10 diffrent countries already and I am not done yet. There is so much more to see and do. Workplace I am currently working at the 365 Avionic Test Equipment school house at Sheppard AFB Texas, I really enjoy my job but never know how long I will be here, depends on when the Air Force decides to move us again. I still enjoy teaching Dance it is my one joy that I never have to give up when we move to a new base. I truly miss my l...Expand for more
ast job though working with the youth at Ramstein AB Germany. I hope to go back there again soon. Military I have been a Military spouse for 19 years and am also currently a DOD Civilian employee, so I do double military service you could say. I support our troops and their families when deployments happen, and help in the training of new troops through my work at the Avionics schoolhouse. Military life is definitely a step above and more challenging then one could ever imagine. It is one of the most stressful lives you can live and one of the most joyous, and proud lives that you could live also. It takes a special breed to handle being an active duty member or spouse. I am also grateful for the great opportunities that the military has given my family and me; we have been able to travel and experience so many different cultures that on a regular basis one would not be permitted. My children have definitely been blessed with several great happenings in our time spent abroad, not only have they experienced war from a different standpoint being abroad and seeing what other cultures think of Americans and their thoughts, but getting to be present in Germany when the Berlin wall came down and experience the reunification of a different country and culture, these are just a few of the many great experiences the military has given to us.
