pes and rough language that began to dominate Hip Hop’s imagery and message… By the time I’d graduated from college, I had immersed myself in all things Hip Hop. It was all I listened to. Intent on drinking in as much clever wit as I could, I overlooked every swear word for the rhyme schemes as I coveted the wordplay. James 1:8 says that a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Yet as I continued to rationalize the world of Hip Hop I lived in, I unwittingly set myself up for a fall as I had one foot in Christianity and the other in Hip Hop. Both were tugging me in different directions and, if left unchecked, Hip Hop’s gaining momentum was set on a collision course with the immovable presence of God in my life. The concern was not for the movement of one versus the position of the other; rather, it was for me being caught between the two… In short, this book represents this juxtaposition. As you read through its pages, you will observe many pieces which either echo or are coupled with scripture. Just as readily, however, you will read poetitorials which have been triggered and supported by the lyrics of Hip Hop artists.
